If you are looking to remodel your bathroom and are thinking about exchanging your tub for a shower, there are some things to consider. I’ll give you a nice rundown of all the pros and cons so you can make the remodeling decision that’s right for you.

Showers

Pros:

• Showers use less water than baths filled to the top, and using less is better for the environment.
• You won’t need as much soap as you would to fill a bath with bubbles, and that will save you money in the future.
• Showers are often quicker than baths and give you a cleaner feeling.
• Some people use showers for hydrotherapy, during which you subject yourself to warm water and then quickly turn the water to cold. This process is supposed to reduce tension.

Cons

• With showers, you might not get that feeling of luxury that you get with baths.
• If left running for 20-25 minutes, the shower actually might use more water than a bathtub filled with water would.

Baths

Pros:

• Baths can be relaxing. Coming home from work and having yourself a nice bubble bath is always something to look forward to. Having a bath is luxurious and can help you reduce stress.
• Being in the bathtub can help your circulation by dilating your blood vessels. It can always temporarily relieve minor aches and pains.
• You are more capable of using bath salts and soaps that can be good for your skin.

Cons:

• Baths can take longer than showers.
• You have less maneuverability to wash hair and such.
• They can use a lot of water.
• Excessive bathing can dry out your skin.
